About Pastor Danny

Daniel V. Holton, Sr. was born and raised in St. Mary County, MD, to the proud parents of Edward and Elsie Holton.  He is from a family of three sisters and eight brothers. He joined the US Army in 1967 and did a tour of duty in Vietnam between 1968 and 1969 where he was promoted to E-5.  He received his honorable discharge in 1970.  After leaving the US Army, he became gainfully employed in the Federal Government where he worked from 1971 until he retired in 1999.

Pastor Danny married the former Ethel Brown from Charles County, MD to whom he has been married for thirty-five years. Pastor Danny is standing firmly as a devoted husband and father.  He and Ethel are blessed with six children, ten grand-children and one great-grandchild.

Pastor Danny began his preaching ministry in 1978 and has been faithful and devoted to accomplishing his appointed purpose in the work of the Lord.  He served as assistant pastor at Labourers and Soldiers for Christ Inc. under the leadership of his older brother, Bishop Alvin Holton Sr., from 1980 to 1982.

He later joined Unity of Love Praise Temple Church in 1982 as a minister under the leadership of Pastors James C. and Miriam Bell. During his time at UOLPT, he was involved with several ministries such as ministering at DC Village, heading up the Food Distribution Program, leading the Men’s Fellowship, and so much more. In 1998 he became the assistant pastor and was later appointed as pastor when Pastor Bell accepted the office of Bishop in 2003.

He remained Pastor of UOLPT until the Lord called him to separate himself to a work he had called him to do.  In obedience, he resigned his position and on November 7, 2010, Pastor Danny and his wife Ethel set forth to do the work they had been called to do for many years.

On January 2, 2011, “Experiencing Life In Christ” Ministry also known as ELIC Ministry was officially birthed.  Later, on April 22, 2012, he was ordained and installed as the pastor of ELIC.

The focus of ELIC is to exemplify the love of Jesus Christ with a passion for helping people. We stand to show Christ’s Love and are committed to the personal and spiritual development of other believers through the clear teaching of God’s word, equipping believers to share the gospel of Jesus Christ (in love) in their communities and throughout the world.

Our Core Beliefs

ELIC believes, will teach by, and adhere to the following core beliefs:

1. God - We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God who is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2. Jesus Christ – We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, was begotten of the Holy Spirit, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
3. Christ’s Return—We believe that Jesus Christ will return to earth.
4. Holy Spirit—We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature. He seals, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies, helps, and comforts the believer.
5. Bible—We believe that the Bible is infallible, inerrant and immutable. It was supernaturally written by holy men and that it is the complete and final revelation of God's will to mankind.
6. Man—We believe that man was created by God, made in His image both male and female, but that through the sin of the first man, Adam, all mankind became and are sinners and need salvation.
7. Salvation—We believe that salvation is a gift received through grace from God and repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ.
8. Assurance—We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.
9. Eternity—We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend eternity in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in Heaven.
10. Church—We believe that the church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head.
11. Prayer—We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
